Students enjoy residential trip to Cumbria

Students from our Learning Support Department went on a residential trip to the Bendrigg Trust Centre in Cumbria. Bendrigg is an incredible outdoor centre for students with complex needs where potential barriers simply disappear as soon as they arrive.

The group, from Years 8 and 9, took part in a wide range of adventurous activities, from rock climbing and abseiling, to canoeing in one of Cumbria’s beautiful lakes.

This was a fantastic experience for our students which built on many of their skills, including independence, confidence and social engagement. The group also learnt what it was like to spend time away from home.

Inclusion is at the forefront of what we do at here at Chapel High, and Bendrigg Lodge gave our students more opportunities to progress as well as the chance to try new things outside of their comfort zone. We had beaming smiles and lots of laughs from start to finish. Well done to an incredible group of students.
