Our Careers Programme aims to inform and prepare students for life after Chapel High, ensuring that they experience and understand the range of choices available to them at post-16. Our annual Post-16 Information Evening is a great opportunity for Year 11s and their parents to speak to a wide variety of colleges, sixth forms and local employers offering school leaver apprenticeships, all in one evening.
Our event started with a talk for parents hosted by our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Dunn, and a local college, which explored the different types of qualifications and levels on offer, how the application process works and the support they can offer home. Students and parents then had the chance to visit the post-16 providers’ stands to ask questions and find out more about their courses, apprenticeships and training opportunities. Visitors also picked up information and materials to take home to help with their own research.
Throughout the event, students learnt about course entry requirements as well as the qualities and skills they will need to develop in order to achieve their future careers goals. Post-16 providers were really impressed with how prepared our students were and the excellent questions they asked. This experience will help them to make their final decisions about post-16 education or training as they work on their personal statements and application forms this term.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all of the exhibitors who came along to support our event this year:
