Our annual Christmas Carol concert

On Thursday 11th December the Music Department hosted our annual Christmas Carol concert at St. Thomas Beckett Parish church. This year's concert featured Christmas carols sung by our choir and performed by our concert band. Each carol filled the church with bright, festive cheer and song, as the congregation joined in with our performances.

Between each carol we had a selection of performances by our talented musicians and ensembles; the year 7 flute group performed 'Jingle Bells' to start, followed by our advanced Woodwind performers Lizzie, Nancy and Martha, we had solo performances from Lizzie on the Piano, and were 'Whammed' by Arthur's acoustic-rock performance of 'Last Christmas'.

Our choir filled the church with nostalgia as they performed 'Somewhere in My Memory' from the movie Home Alone, before we had a special performance by Sorrel and Frankie. The concert band accompanied the carols and treated us to performances of 'Mary's Boy Child', and Vivaldi's 'Winter', with the spotlight firmly on solo oboist Nancy. Beautiful readings were also delivered by students from the year 10 Drama group, along with a performance of 'The Night Before Christmas'.

As a school, we are very fortunate to have such a wealth of talent and are proud to share this with the local community. Thank you to Rev. Mel Hartle and Mrs. Nikki Goodhew for providing our students with the opportunity to perform in their wonderful church. And well done to our fantastic students for making this such a special evening.
