Students in Learning Support take part in Mock Interviews

Students in our Learning Support Department took part in mock interviews with local employers to give them real experience of an interview situation. The employers, from Concept Life Sciences, AstraZeneca and the Health & Safety Laboratory, asked the Year 10 and Year 11 students a wide range of questions including which activities they enjoy, their favourite subject at school and what their dream job would be.

The group were a little nervous to start with, as would be expected, but they performed really well and had lots to say. They received some great feedback from the employers who were impressed with their answers and how they presented themselves. The students have gained a lot confidence from the experience and learnt some new skills which will help them with interviews in the future.

This activity forms part of the ‘Pathways to Success’ programme the group have been following, a bespoke careers plan organised by DEBP (Direct Education Business Partnership). It aims to support young people to develop transferable skills and gain meaningful experiences of the workplace through special careers lessons and activities, and direct work with employers.

Congratulations to our students in Learning Support, you should be very proud of yourselves.
